Feeding effect of the black bugs (Scotinophora coarctata) on IR36 (Philippines)

The intensity of the effect of black bug infestation/feeding on rice plants depended on two factors: time of starting infestation and the initial adult population density caged. The earlier infestation and higher population density, the heavier intensity of damage appeared. The number of tillers/hill, size of flag leaves of both productive and non-productive tillers, length of panicles, number of panicles/hill, the numbers of complete and incomplete grains/hill, weight of whole plants, and weight of complete and incomplete grains were affected by black bug infestation, based on the two factors
