Effect of N and K levels on yield and quality of melon

Soil and water culture experiments were conducted to study the levels of N and K on yield and quality of melon. In soil culture, 8kg/10a of N was suggested to be an optimum rate that brought proper size and high sugar content. In water culture, the most favourable concentration of N and K was 8me/L in each in both fall and spring season. In an experiment labeled (**14)CO2 to 1 leaf in fall season, the proportion of photosynthates translocated from the leaf to fruit was high in low N concentration, and the effect of K concentration was not clear as N concentration
