Recycling of dried poultry waste in the diets of growing pullets and layers [chickens]

Sun drying of poultry manure was as good as oven drying in the processing of dried poultry waste (DPW) for feed recycling. The protein level in the diets given to layers has subsequently affected the protein content of the manure from them. Differences in the protein content of the manure did not significantly affect the performance of layers fed the various origins of recycled manure. The recycling of DPW in the feeds of layers at the rate of 20% was as economical as the conventional (without DPW) feed formulation. The interior egg quality as well as the organoleptic characteristics of eggs were not affected by feeding DPW in the diet of layers. Recycling of DPW in the feed of chicken can be a way of reducing the cost of egg production and partially alleviating the problem of pollution caused by poultry manure
