There is a need for the establishment at Chiang Mai University of a Plant Disease Survey (with herbarium and culture collection) and a Plant Disease Advisory Centre to serve Northern Thailand. The relationship of these services and the University's teaching programme to other agencies in the region and in the country as a whole is discussed
