Soils of Bangladesh
1984
Shaheed, S.M.
Soils of Bangladesh have been grouped as floodplain soils, hill soils and terrace soils. The mode of formation and appearance of these three classes of soils are described. Their organic matter, nutrient and mineral contents, moisture storage capacity etc. are noted. Land use development potential of the soils are also determined according to their local hydrological and climatic conditions. It is found that the floodplain soils except a few with toxic properties or imbalanced nutrient status, normally have a moderate level of sustained natural fertility for traditional agriculture
