This paper presents the results of soil examination at the territory of the work organization "Pescara" from Subotica (SFRY) in order to discover the presence of the beet weevil mycosis in this area. The total of 60 land samples taken in the period between September 10th and November 8th 1983 were examined. After examining the samples the beet weevil was found at the depth between 10 and 15 cm. Nevertheless, 20% was characteristic below 30 cm. Regarding the development stage, the imago stage was found the most frequently (93.9%), but there was a much lower number of pupas (6.1%). Only at the examination on October 17th one larva was found. The number of beet weevils varied notably within 1 sugar beet field and especially among single localities. The average number was 22 imagos per sq m and the maximum was 97 imagos per sq m. At the examination of the dead beet weevils 3 species of entomophagous fungi were found:Tarichium cleoni Wize., Beauveria bassiana Bals (Vuill.) and Metarrhizium anisopliae Metch.
