[Yield potential of the lastest creations of Bc maize hybrids]

Potential productivity of several Bc hybrids was investigated at the locations of Zagreb (Rugvica), Pitomaca and Vinkovci (SFRY). The investigated hybrids belong to vegetation groups 400 and 500. Some American and Hungarian hybrids were used for comparison. The planned seeding rate was 63,000 plants per ha. In experiments with the hybrids of FAO maturity group 400 the following hybrids are distinguished by productivity (the average for all 3 locations):MSC 406 (Hung.) - 14.051 t/ha, Bc EH 408 E -13.884 t/ha, Bc EH 492 - 13.861 t/ha and the hybrids Bc EH 466A, SC 3479 A (Hung.), Bc EH 466 B and Bc 468 had the yield over 13.0 t/ha too. Regarding the vegetation, the American hybrid Chameleon is somewhat later and Ornella and Mirna are earlier. In experiments with the hybrids of FAO maturity group 500, the hybrid Bc EH 608 R, with 14.666 t/ha is distinguished by productivity (the average for all 3 locations) and hybrids Gorilla (USA), NS SC 555, SC 561 (Hung.), Bc 592 and Bc EH 484 B yielded over 13.0 t/ha. Regarding the vegetation length, the hybrids Bc EH 608 R, Gorilla and NS SC 555 of the maturity group 500 are later. Bc EH 608 R hybrid, compared with the standard one Bc 622, had statistically significantly higher yields in several locations. Regarding the number of sprouting days, tasseling and water content in the grain, there are no differences among the compared hybrids.
