Influence of moisture stress on water and nitrogen metabolism of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

The effect of moisture stress on three groundnut genotypes in post-rainy season indicated decrease in leaf water potential and stomatal conductance with stress. Fluctuation in leaf water potential was high in J 11 compared with M 13 and M 374. Stomatal conductance was lower in M 13 than in MK 374 and J 11 during stress. Cultivar M 13 had higher leaf chlorophyll content at all growth stages compared with MK 374 and J 11 and the reduction in chlorophyll content due to stress was more in J 11 than in M 13 and MK 374
