Studies on effect of levels and time of nitrogen application on growth parameters in cotton varieties SRT-1 and AC-738

Except leaf area index, all the growth parameters studied were significantly influenced by nitrogen applications and 150 kg N/ha proved superior over lower levels. Application of nitrogen in three equal instalments (at the time of sowing, square formation and boll development) proved significantly superior over other treatments in respect of attributes like sympodial branches, functional leaves and leaf area only. There were no significant differences amongst two varieties studied in respect of growth parameters
