Genetic analysis of green fodder quality in pearlmillet
1984
Gupta, V.P. | Sidhu, P.S. (Punjab Agricultural Univ., Ludhiana (India))
A 13x13 diallel cross including reciprocals, was evaluated for biochemical constituents of green fodder during summer and monsoon seasons. The expression of genetic variability was found to differ over seasons as well as in leaf and stem parts for oxalic acid, protein, calcium and total mineral content. For oxalic acid content, non-additive component involving both dominance and epistasis was important. For protein content, both additive and non-additive gene effects were equally important. For total mineral content, epistatis played an important role whereas additive gene effects were important for calcium content
