Effects of different dietary sources of cholesterol, protein and fiber on lipid metabolism in broiler chicks, 1; effects of egg yolk supplementation on blood and liver lipids in chickens with different ages
1985
Kim, K.N. | Han, I.K. (Seoul National Univ., Suwon (Korea R.))
The present study was undertaken to determine the effects of egg yolk on blood and liver lipids in young (1 week old) and old (10 weeks old) chickens. The effects of egg yolk supplementation were compared to those of crystalling cholesterol and cholesterol free diet feeding. Blood samples were obtained at the end of the experiment by decapitation. Serum cholesterol and VLDL + LDL-cholesterol were highest in chicks fed crystalline cholesterol in both aged groups. However, egg yolk elevated serum cholesterol and VLDL + LDL-cholesterol levels slightly in old broilers or had no effect in young birds compared to the control group
