The studies of Baigom Rice Project in Cameroon have been conducted on the following subjects; (a) Improvement of rice varieties of disease resistance, cold tolerance and of high-yielding with good grain quality. (b) Establishment of technical practices of irrigated rice culture. (c) Studies on the paddy multiple-cropping system in the Baigom Plain. A total of 35 varieties were tested in the preliminary yield trial the varieties IR7167, RPKN-2, IRAT 130, Kaoshung 139 and Suwon 222 which were selected for cold tolerance, resistance to blast disease and high-yielding, and they will be tested in the advance yield trial in the future
