An impact study on the Kabsaka multiple cropping project in Iloilo [Philippines]

The results of the survey revealed that the highest proportion of the respondents are tenants. The average area planted to rice during the first cropping is 2.12 hectares and their average total production is 142.41 cavans, which is equivalent to 67.27 cavans per hectare. The farmers also claimed to have planted the IR varieties of rice while the variety of vegetables cannot be identified. In terms of skills and cultural practices employed, the data show that the majority of the respondents practice land preparation, use herbicide/fertilizer, dry seeding and pest and disease control. Socioeconomic characteristics show that the beneficiaries of the project are mostly male, 47 years old on the average, mostly married, and elementary educated
