Chemical analysis of maggot meal showed that it contains 53% CP, 20% EE, 7% CF, 11% ash, 7% moisture, and 2% NFE. Mineral analysis showed that maggot meal ranked lower than fish meal in Ca (5.44 vs. 0.74) and P (3.26 vs. 1.81) but compared well in trace minerals (Mn, Fe, Zn, Cu) content. Results of metabolism trial showed that maggot meal contained 3841 KCal ME/kg and 48% metabolizable CP. When compared with fish meal, meat and bone meal and soybean oil meal at 10% level in a basal diet of corn and soybean oil meal (15%) birds performed equally well (P.05) in terms of feed consumption, body weight, and feed conversion efficiency at 21 days of age. There was no problem in the acceptability of maggot meal and it compared favorably with other conventional protein sources. No mortality could be attributed to the treatments given
