Crude extracts of female Asian corn borer moths were tested in the field. Extracts were in heptane, acetone and acetone after heptane washes of female abdomen tips and were dispensed in rubber septa after the solvent was evaporated. Results were compared between baits by number observation with more moths captured. Baits with decreasing order of effectiveness were extracts with acetone after heptane, acetone, heptane and unbaited traps. This indicates the presence of more active pheromone components that are extractable with acetone but poorly so with heptane
