Performance of IR-56 as influenced by fertilization, weeding scheme and insect pest management [Philippines]
1984
Peralta, C.A.
Plant height of IR-56 at 30, 45 and 58 DAT had the tendency to grow taller with employment of the M-99 fertilization scheme, weeding by the farmer's practice, and the use of either present ETL or super ETL. Similarly, yield components such as number of filled grains per panicle, panicle count per hill and weight of 100 grains were evidently higher when IR-56 was subjected to pest management of either present ETL or super ETL. Weed count and dry weed weights of 45 DAT and at harvest tended to be at low level also in plants exposed to the M-99 fertilization scheme, farmer's method of weeding and insect control by the use of either present ETL or super ETL based on FAO scheme. The cost of production showed that plants administered with M-99 fertilization scheme, weeding by the farmer's practice and insect control by the use of either present ETL or super ETL was higher than other treatment combinations tested, but it registered higher net income
