Determining total potassium in plant material by extraction
1985
Kastori, R. (Poljoprivredni fakultet, Novi Sad (Yugoslavia))
At 11 samples of plant material, 5 samples of grain and 6 samples of above ground organs of different kind of plants : soybean, wheat, barley, pea, maize, sugar beet and alfalfa was estimated the total content of potassium by 3 methods : by extraction, by dry and wet burning. The gotten results proved that potassium from plant substance could be extracted quantitatively by 0,5 N HCL. On that way the total content of potassium in plant material could be determined without previous oxidation of organic substance. The method of extraction was especially suitable for assembly-line analyses and when it was not necessary to determine the content of other elements. The low standard deviations and coefficient of variation proved the reliableness of investigated treatment for determination the total content of potassium in plant.
