The influence of mineral fertilizers [NPK] on the yield of some corn hybrids [in Toplice region, SR Serbia, (Yugoslavia)]

It was investigated which amounts and NPK fertilizer relations were the best in yield of some maize hybrids. The investigation was conducted on hybrids: OSSC-305 (300), Lp-448 (400), Lp-551/B (500), NSSC-696 (600) and LpSC-704 (700). The following types of fertilizers were used: N-60P2O5-50; N100P2O5-80 K2O-80; N-130P2O5100 K2O 100; N160P2O5 120. The conclusions were: averagelly the lowest stalk had the hybride Lp-448 (230) and the highest had Lp SC-704 (270). The conclusion was that it was the result of their biological features. The lowest stalks among all hybrides had the parcels which were not fertilized. The stalk height on fertilized parcels was increasing in dependance of feed variations. During the period of 3 years the smallest cob had the cultivar Lp-448 (18,8) and the longest cob had the cultivar Lp SC-704 (22,0) which meant that the cob lenght was in correlation with the height of stalk. The smallest cob among all hybrides was on parcels which were not fertilized. Increasing the amount of NPK fertilizers at the same time was increasing the lenght of cob. The worst yield in the period of 3 years gave OSSC-305 (4.855), better yield gave Lp-448 (4.898), Lp 551/B (5.951), NSSC-696 (6.239) and the best yield gave LpSC-704 (7.861). The yield increasement in correlation with controle was the smallest in variant N6 (35-46%) and the biggest in variant N160 (83-150%).
