Effect of inoculum, nitrogen and phosphorus on growth and development of soybean

The response of inoculum and different nutrient elements on the growth and development of soybean was studied. The investigation showed that the combined effect of inoculum and nitrogen significantly produced highest chlorophyll-a and protein content. Phosphorus either alone or with inoculum significantly exhibited higher chlorophyll-b and total chlorophyll content, respectively. Significant improvement of crop growth rate (CGR) and net assimilation rate (NAR) was observed only during the period of 56-84 days of growth period with inoculum along with nitrogen and phosphorus separately. Inoculum on the other hand either alone or with nitrogen or with phosphorus markedly increased dry matter (DM) accumulation and development of leaf area index.
