Effect of different dates and rates of seeding on the yield of lentil in Bangladesh

An experiment was carried out in the Regional Agricultural Research Station of Jessore (Bangladesh) during 1984-85, to find out the optimum period of sowing and optimum seed rates for better yield of lentil in Jessore region. It included four dates of seeding, namely (16 Oct, 5th Nov, 25th Nov, 10 Dec) and three rates, namely 20, 30, 40 kg seeds/ha. The experiment was laid out in a split plot-design with 3 replications. It was observed that late seeding up to Nov. 25 with proper moisture supply, the crop can be grown successfully.
