Genetic variability of Hookah tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) [Bangladesh]

The genetic variability and degree of association of yield and yield components were studied in 14 selected varieties of Hookah tobacco at the Tobacco Research Station (BARI), Burirhat Farm, Rangpur (Bangladesh). Characters like plant height, leaf breadth and dry leaf yield show combination of appreciable heritability with high genetic advance. Moderate genotypic and phenotypic co-efficient of variation were also found among plant height, number of leaves, leaf breadth and dry leaf yield. Number of leaves per plant showed positive correlation co-efficient with yield.
