The application of 5 ppm of Cu to Lafitte muck (O.M: 26.4 %) resulted in a significant increase over control in dry matter production of rice plants, whereas no significant increase was observed on Myatt fine sandy loam (O.M: 4.38 %) under greenhouse conditions. The concentration and uptake of Cu by rice plants were increased with increase in the rate of applied Cu. With 20 ppm of applied Cu, the concentration and uptake of Cu on the Myatt soil were twice higher than those on the Lafitte soil. Applied Cu resulted in significant increases of Zn and Fe concentrations in rice plants on one soil, whereas no significant influence was obtained on tissue Mn on both soils
