Humus compounds present in muck soils vary in contents of carbon and nitrogen which manifests itself in different C to N rations. Small-molecule humus compounds showed the lowest C to N ratio. The C to N ratio in fulvic acids and in the residue after extraction was found to increase with increasing soil moisture
