Relation of glasshouse-imposed stress tests to field yields in sweet potato
1986
Martin, F.W. (United States Dept. of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Southern Region, Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Tropical Agriculture Research Station)
Yields of 100 unselected clones subjected to low fertility, acidity, root flooding and shade stresses in a greenhouse experiment were compared with that of clones grown in a heavy clay, low fertility, poorly drained, pH 5.0 Ultisol in Puerto Rico. Results of low fertility, shade and low pH stress tests were correlated with yields in the field. Tolerance to acidity was most useful in predicting the highest yielding clones however some high yielding clones showed only moderate scores in the glasshouse stress tests
