The salt content in soil was found to increase with increasing salt content in water. Ammount of different anions and cations varied with the salinity state in subterranean water. Concentrations of soluble carbonates and bicarbonates were very low both in the water containing a high salt content and in soil extract. Soluble sodium was the dominant cation and there was more calcium than magnesium in soil, this being contrary to water contents. The research was carried out in the region of Sharkia, Egypt.
