[Maize hybrid quality in industrial sugar production depending on planting times]
1984
Kondic, J.
On the basis of the investigation results, the conclusion was that all the examined maize hybrids can be successfully planted in all the three examined planting times, although the second planting time was significantly better. The highest average yields were obtained with Bc-488 hybrid (101.62 dt/ha). The highest average starch content, for hybrids and years of examination, had the largest grain (larger that 8.5 mm)-(72.78%). BC-488 hybrid had the significantly highest average starch content in the largest grain-(73.87%). The highest average protein content for all fractions and years of examination, had BC-418 hybrid-(10.81%), oil content PFZg-460-(4.99%), ash content OSSC-247-(1.47%). The protein, ash and oil contents did not considerably vary in relation to planting times and hybrids. On the basis of the grain analyses of the examined hybrids, and technological demands in industrial maize processing into sugar, the following hybrids are recommended for the production: Bc-388, PFZg-460, BC-488, ZP-370, BLSC-55, PFZg-349, Bc-418, and OSSC-247.
