Reciprocal cross differences for seed yield attributes in brown mustard
1985
Anand, I.J. | Reddy, W.R. (Indian Agricultural Research Inst., New Delhi. Div. of Genetics)
Reciprocal cross effects were assessed in four crosses of brown mustard (Brassica juncea L. Cyzern and Coss.) involving indigenous and Polish varieties. The reciprocal cross effects were found to be important for seed yield and its components such as 1000-seed weight and seed per siliqua. Significant differences were also observed for days to flowering, number of primary and secondary branches, and grain formation period. The choice of female parent in attempting a cross of brown mustard appears to be important
