In a field experiment carried out at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Hathazari, Bangladesh in 1983-84 to study the residual effect of P and K applied in potato on the subsequent upland crops and T. Aman rice, it was found that if potato is provided with recommended fertilizer P and K, the yields of upland crops viz. mungbean, blackgram, sesame, lady's finger, corn, etc. planted after potato were not affected. T. aman planted after non-rice upland crops did not also exhibit yield reduction at P(0)K(0) level. But the yields of upland rice and T. aman in the check pattern Potato-rice, were significantly reduced at P(0)K(0) level. T. aman planted after mungbean, blackgram and sesame gave higher grain yields and gross margins than the check pattern regardless of fertilizer P and K level.
