Protoplast culture of Panax ginseng

High yields of viable protoplasts were isolated by enzymes from callus of Panax ginseng. By means of liquid culture, the protoplast of P. ginseng in the modified MS medium regenerated cell wall on days 2 in culture. The first cell divisions were observed on days 3. The calli derived from protoplast of P. ginseng were obtained at last. But the induction of differentiation were failed. The experiment put stress on the material, condition and technique used in culture. The significance of appliance of synthetic technique and some phenomena observed in the test were discussed.
