The banded chromosomes of the Xizang pig (Sus sorofa domestica) have been studied by trypsin-G-banding, R-banding, C-banding and Ag staining technique. The diploid number is 38 in the Xizang pig. The karyotype is 2n=8sm+4st+14m+12t, NF=64. According to the arm ratio, the chromosome pair No.9 is placed in the M group. The banding pattern of each chromosome has been described based on the analysis of the G-and R-banded chromosomes. The Ag-NoRs are situated in the chromosome No.7 and No.10. Among them the G-and R-banding patterns of chromosomes in Xizang pig are similar to those of other domestic pigs, but the C-bands and Ag-NoRs are present polymorphism.
