The effect of plant population and spacing on yield and quality of tomatoes were observed using field trials and restricted planting in boxes. Field trials with spacing of 12.5 cm x 12.5 cm produced less trusses and flowers than those at 25 x 25 cm spacing. Wider spacing produced significantly more and larger fruits, and showed more vigorous growth. For box experiments, no difference in number of trusses for one plant or two plants per box was observed. Higher number of flowers, fruits and fruit weight were produced per plant for single plants in boxes. Significant general decreases in weight of fruits, number of trusses and number of flowers were observed with increasing plant stand. Plants grown singly produced more marketable fruits
