Effect of inoculation and mineral nitrogen on growth and nodulation of three cultivars of bambara groundnut (Voandzeia subterranea Thouars)
1982
Dawoe, E.L.K.
The effect of rhizobium inoculation and mineral nitrogen application on the growth and nodulation of three cultivars of bambara groundnut in sterile sand culture is reported. Significant differences (P0.01) occurred in shoot dry weight, % nitrogen, total nitrogen yield and number of leaves per plant in both treatments. Petiole length, root dry weight, and number of days to first flower were not significantly affected by varietal differences. The genotypic differences in effectiveness of symbiosis with this strain of rhizobium and the efficiency of nitrogen utilization depended on its source. Nodulation and growth could be improved by selecting both the rhizobium strain and the plant genotype
