A new method for the evaluation of insecticidal and repellent action of vape mats against mosquitoes is described. The evaluation of mats is carried out in a test cage of 3.6 m3 using a quarter of a mat with exposure time of insects of 20 min. The effectiveness is estimated by comparison to a mat of known action and to an untreated control. The method was checked by carrying out tests with 12 different mats containing synthetic pyrethroids or natural pyrethrins as active ingredients, with or without synergists. A laboratory colony of Culex molestus Forsk. was used in the tests. This method is considered suitable for screening vape mats, because it simulates their application in practice
