Effects of different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus on soil properties, yield and uptake of nutrients of corn

Studies were conducted to find out the fertilizer response of the corn variety X304, on different soil types in various regions: Central Agricultural Station (CAS), Black Bush Polder (BBP) and Central Horticultural Station (CHS). The effect of nitrogen on yield was significant at CAS (F = 63.17, significant at 1 %) and at CHS (F = 8.12, significant at 1 %. The effect of phosphate was significant only at CAS (5 %, (F = 5.85)). The percentage of N content in leaf increased significantly at all sites; the phosphate content decreased significantly at CAS and CHS with increasing rate of N fertilization; the uptake of potassium was also significantly enhanced. The effect of various P levels on the uptake of N, P and K at all 3 sites was insignificant. Changes in soil pH, organic carbon, total nitrogen, available P2O5 and exchangeable potassium, calcium and magnesium at various levels of nitrogen fertilization in onverwagt clay soil and in Inki clay soil found at the CAS and the CHS respectively have been graphically represented
