Integrated means for the control of the tobacco whitefly Bemisia tabaci Gen and tomato yellow leaf virus in plastic houses

To control tobacco whitefly Bemisia tabaci Gen. and tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV). Tomato transplants, which were raised in white cheese cloth covered house, remained free of whitefly and TYLCV infection as the entrances to the plastic houses were shielded with cheese cloth provided with weekly application for the 1st six weeks following transplanting. The percent of TYLCV infection remained about 1% in all treatment till April in both season of 1983-1984 and 1984-1985, while percent of virus infection in the control treatment exceeded 90% in December and reached 100% during February. Successful approaches followed to eliminate infestation of whitefly and TYLCV, caused an increase in tomato yield by six folds. Each of plant yield and the avarage of fruit weight showed an increase in all used treatments when compared to the control treatments
