Livestock production for import substitution is presented as the form of agricultural diversification most likely to succeed in Barbados as it is not hampered by the constraints of market, soil erosion and high wages. The high cost of imported feeds could be avoided by growing of forages on ex-cane lands and use of dried cassava chips, molasses and cottonseed
