The nutritional status of children in two Kingston neighbourhoods over a five-year period of increasing food costs

A survey of 211 children between 6 and 48 months of age was taken between 1979 and 1984, during which time the cost of basic food items rose steeply. There was no consistent change in mean weight-for-age, weight-for-height and height-for-age over the 5-year period. The prevalence of severe and moderate malnutrition remained similar. In both surveys the nutritional status deteriorated as children got older
