Result showed that cotton plant applied with Crotolaria produced the most number of sympodial branches, the tallest plant at maturity and yield in kilograms per hectare. It was observed that a similar result was obtained during the 1983-1984 trial at the same place. Cotton plants which were applied with these green manure crops at planting produced the best number of sympodial branches, the smallest plant at maturity, and the lowest yield in kilograms/ha. It could be noted that plants applied with chemical fertilizer at the rate of 75-25-25 kg/ha were not comparable to plants applied with organic manure crops. Crotalaria at the rate of 2 tons/ha provided the highest net return, although it provided a lower yield than chemical fertilizer at a rate of 75-25-25 which provided the highest yield but with the lowest net return. The result was due to high cost of chemical fertilizer.
