A low pigment (LP) basal diet of wheat, soybean meal and groundnut oil, or diets with substitution of Leucaena leucocephala leaf meal (LLM) at 50 and 100g/kg or yellow maize at 500g/kg at the expense of wheat were fed to 64 broilers at 22 days old. Growth of chicks was significantly reduced (P 0.01) by LLM at 100g/kg and efficiency of food utilization declined at both levels of LLM supplementation. Broiler pigmentation was improved significantly (P 0.001) by LLM supplementation at 50 and 100g and less so with addition of maize
