There has been determined rather outstanding correlation between the degree and type of deformation and degree of present vitality of plant. The most common types of deformations are shortened root system, root in the shape of the letters "L" and "J" without noticeable development of roots to the bottom. There are a few seedlings with normal shape typical for black pine of that age which have been developed out of the seed in situ. Within the frame of every type of deformation there could be also found vital seedlings, although in a fewer number (4-6%). Causes of deformation have been found as well.
