To find out the extent of utilisation of homestead for production of fruits. 1583 homesteads were selected at Bhulta union under Narayanganj District. The study area is located about 25 km from Dhaka city on the Dhaka -Norshingdi road. The study shows that a total number of 8407 seasonal fruit trees were grown in 15.33 homesteads irrespective of all size groups of homesteads. Out of those trees, highest number is obtained against banana trees 3830 (45.6%). The second highest figure is 2079 (24.7%) against mango trees. Guava is a common as well as cheap source of vitamins but number of trees grown is less 281 (3.3%). Number of other tress grown is very negligible. The study also indicates a positive correlation between size or homestead and number of fruit trees per hundred homestead except the size group of 1-8 decimals Number of fruit trees like Amlaki, Amra, lemon, Jumbura, Kathbel, Kamranga, papaya which contain more vitamins is very negligible.
