This study shows that the Meleta forest reserve created for the conservation of the environment is rapidly disappearing due to the high demographic pressure on it. Inspite of this alarming degradation, it was noticed that the Meleta reserve still conserves all of its genetic potential giving rise to hopes of an eventual and total recovery if a vigourous plan is set up in time. This study can thus be used as a tool for setting up an ecosystem conservation plan for the Meleta forest reserve
