Study on the effects of pinching for growing shoots of Chinese jujube in blooming period [China]

By means of surveying the morphological index of shoots and leaf analysis, studies were made on the effects of pinching for growing shoots of Chinese jujube in blooming period. The results indicate that pinching promotes the growth and development of the secondary shoot of the pinched growing shoots and increases the amount of fruit set by 48% in first year, 225%(Hui Zao) and 386% (Ji Xing Zao) in the following year. The physiological effects of pinching is that H2O2 enzyme activity, N and K content, and photosynthetic rate of the leaf has been increased as compared with non-pinching ones
