Approaches to transformation and utilization of natural shrubs in north, northeast and northwest China

It is important to protect, transform and make proper use of the natural shrubs for maintaining ecological balance and improving the production of animal husbandry and other rural economical sections in north, northeast and northwest China. Taking the shrubs in Wulanaodu area located in northeast China as an example, this paper summarized the experiment carried out for 5 years (1981-1985) on three kinds of transformation measures: round enclosing, aboveground cutting and seeding. The natural shrubs in this region are divided into three types and each given a corresponding model for the rational utilization of the natural shrub resources.
