Effect of growing season and maturity stages on protein and amino acid contents in some soybean varieties [Egypt]

Protein, non true protein, amino nitrogen and amino acid contents were determined in five soybean varieties at different maturity stages. Seeds were cultivated in the two growing seasons: 1983 and 1984. Results obtained showed highly significant differences in means of protein, non true protein and amino nitrogen among the varieties, stages of maturity and growing seasons. The interactions: varieties x maturity stages, varieties x seasons and varieties x maturity stages x season were highly significant. The variety "Centinal" had the highest protein content %. The 3rd maturity stage gave the highest protein %. The acids: glutamic, aspartic, arginine, histidine, lusine. serine, and tryptophan were high through the 1st maturity stage and then decreased gradually with progressing maturity stages. While the amino acids: proline, cysteine, methionine, leucine, valine, alanine, and phenylalanine followed an opposite trend.
