Sugar beet seeds were soaked for 24 hrs. in Mn, Cu or Zn solutions, in sulfate forms, at 0.0 %, 0.1 % 0.2 %, 0.4 % concentration. Soaked seeds were sown in Ain Shams Univ. Agric. Exp. Farm at Shalakan, where the soil was clay loam. The results reveal that 0.1% - 0.2% Mn, 0.2% Cu and 0.2%-0.4% Zn encouraged the germination of sugar beet seeds. Soaking seeds in 0.1%, 0.2% or 0.4% Mn-, Cu- or Zn- solutions increased significantly the number of leaves per plant, fresh and dry weights of leaves after 150 days from sowing, as well as, the yield and its quality. Absolute amounts of total soluble sugars and non-reducing sugars in mature roots were enhanced significantly by soaking seeds in 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.4% of Mn, Cu or Zn. Whilst, the absolute amount of reducing sugars was not significantly affected, but almost decreased, by aforenamed treatments.
