The present study was conducted on two local cultivars (Giza 2, Giza 30) of fenugreek, (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.), to recognize some morphological and histological aspects of the root. Results obtained showed that the main root was tap, with 3-4 rows of laterals. The nodules appeared on both main and lateral roots. At 10 days old, the primary structure was completed, the tetrarch xylem occupied the center and the phloem parenchyma developed thick walls. The secondary growth started in the 2 weeks old roots and attained its maximum at the age of 12 weeks. No periderm was developed; the high lignified cells of the endodermis functioned as a protective layer, The lateral roots and root nodules originated from the pericycle opposite to xylem ridges. The root nodules consisted of bacteroidal tissue and parenchyma with two vascular bundles connected it with the root stele, as well as that the nodule endodermis was connected with the root endodermis.
