[Some honey bee virus diseases in Iran]
1990
Mossadegh, M.
Five viruses were isolated and identified in samples of adult bee workers taken from honey bee colonies (Apis mellifera L.) infested with Varroa jacobsoni oud., collected from two provinces of Loristan and Azarbaijan in Iran. These viruses are bee virus Y (BVY) strain of Japan virus (JV), black queen cell virus (BQCV), cloudy wing virus (CWY), bee virus X (BVX) and acute paralysis virus (APV). Black queen cell virus (BQCV) is associated with queen larvae in A. mellifera colonies. This virus was also isolated and identified from A. florea F. dead drone larvae collected in Ahvaz. The presence of BQCV in A. florea drones was unexpected. This is the first report of the natural occurrence of the virus in brood other than developing queen larvae and the first virus that has been identified in this bee species
