[Fruit trees in Jordan [olive, apple, peach and citrus trees and grapevines]]

In the last two decades there has been a rapid increase in the sector of fruit trees in Jordan. This increase was not restricted to the traditional fruit tree crop (olives and grapes) but it also included other fruit tree crops, especially peaches and apples. This rapid development was accompanied by an increasing demand for nursery stock, which has been covered either through local production or through imports. This paper will deal with the different aspects of this development in fruit trees sector. In addition an attempt will be undertaken to point out some of the positive and negative aspects of this agricultural sector. A further look in the future will be discussed
