1990

Paclobutrazol was applied to soil around 6-year-old 'Okubo' peach [Prunus persica (L.) Batsch] trees planted 4.6m by 3.7m at rates of 0, 0.85, 1.69 and 2.12g a.i./tree on April 1985. All concentrations of paclobutrazol severely suppressed shoot growth in the season of application and their carry-over effects continued for the following four years. Paclobutrazol at rate of 1.69 and 2.12g significantly reduced leaf growth in the 3rd and 4th growing seasons, but did not affect chlorophyll content of leaves. Fruit size and quality were not significantly influenced by paclobutrazol treatment
